In fall and winter, a sore, reddened nose unfortunately plagues us very often.

1. use soft handkerchiefs that are not perfumed

Stay away from mentholated tissues. They only irritate the sore nose even more. "Never use kitchen roll," warns ENT specialist Dr. Karen Krüger from Berlin. "Their surface is far too rough." Toilet paper is also only suitable if it is very soft.

2. dab carefully, don't rub your nose

If you need to wipe or clean them, you should hold the tissue with pointed fingers, so to speak. Then the pressure on the sore areas of skin is not so great. After blowing your nose, dab again at night so that the nose and the area around it are really dry.

3. be careful with care products

Be careful when using nasal care products. The products often contain substances that the person affected cannot tolerate - such as fragrances. Doctor Krüger advises using a special nasal ointment with the active ingredient panthenol if the nose is sore. It has the advantage that it can also be used to care for and protect the inside of the nose. This is also usually sore and quite painful.
