Especially in the current coronavirus crisis, when we are spending a lot of time indoors, it is a good idea to have our hair degreased. We no longer have to go out every day and can take our time to experiment with whether degreasing is for us or not.
Having your hair degreased: What is it and what are the benefits?
Anyone who struggles with greasy hair and therefore washes their hair every day should try this method and refrain from washing their hair for a few days. Give your hair a little break from washing. This is because daily shampooing affects the scalp and the hair is also stressed, for example by blow-drying. Massaging shampoo into the scalp stimulates blood circulation and sebum production, causing hair to become greasy more quickly. In addition, chalky water and many shampoos dry out our scalp, which also stimulates sebum production. In addition, the lengths of the hair in particular dry out, as the oil from the roots often does not reach them. The result: the hair lengths can break off and split ends are encouraged.
Degreasing hair: How does it work?
How long you want to give your hair a break depends entirely on you and how long you feel comfortable with unwashed hair. However, we recommend at least four or five days or even a whole week to allow your hair to become really greasy. This is of course a long time and doesn't sound very appetizing at first. But it pays off because it gives our hair the chance to recover. Degreasing can also ensure that we no longer have to wash our mane so often in the long term and can extend the intervals between individual hair washes permanently because the hair no longer gets greasy so quickly. We can also prevent dry hair, prevent split ends and ensure that our mane is healthier. Even if it sounds unimaginable to many, it can be worth persevering for a few days and walking around with greasy hair.
Remove products from your hair: To start, be sure to use a deep cleansing shampoo and remove product residue and the like from your hair.
Proceed step by step: Start by extending the intervals between hair washes. First wash your hair only every two days, then every three days and then only after four days ... In this way, your sebaceous glands will slowly get used to it and limit their activity.
Brushing: Brush your hair thoroughly every day. This distributes the oil from the roots to the lengths of the hair and nourishes the ends in a natural way. If you feel uncomfortable with unwashed hair, tie it up in a ponytail or bun between brushing or wrap a scarf around your hair.
No matter how long you last, the first time you wash your hair after the detox treatment, it's best to wash your mane with a pH-neutral shampoo - that's all you need.
