Why do my hands get dry and cracked?
Many of us are currently struggling with dry hands. As we now wash our hands more often and, above all, longer and more thoroughly, the skin's natural protective acid mantle is attacked. When washing, the skin loses moisture and the skin's own oils and becomes drier as a result. The alcohol contained in disinfectants also dries out the skin more quickly.
It becomes unpleasant when the skin of the hands is already so dry that it starts to burn or itch. You should therefore try to restore the skin's lost moisture. These tips will help against chapped and stressed hands.
This helps with dry hands
1. cream, cream, cream: Apply cream to your hands several times a day if you feel that your skin is tight and dry. It is best to do this directly after washing and disinfecting your hands. Place a hand cream dispenser by the sink as a little reminder so that you don't forget to apply cream. When choosing a hand cream, make sure that it is quickly absorbed and greasy. You can find a well-rated hand cream here.
2. dab your hands dry: After washing your hands, carefully dab them dry with a towel. Rubbing them dry quickly with a towel can irritate the skin even more.
3.use mild soap: Use a mild soap when washing your hands. The soap should also contain little or no perfume. Washing lotions that contain moisturizing ingredients such as urea or vegetable oils are good. Here is a well-rated soap for sensitive skin.
4. wear gloves when cleaning: Cleaning agents, detergents and the like are aggressive to the hands. Therefore, always wear gloves when using these products. Also wear gloves when washing up or mopping the floor as a precaution, as this protects your hands, which are already stressed at the moment, from drying out even more.
5. overnight care: If your skin is already very stressed, pamper your hands overnight with a hand mask. If you don't have one to hand, conventional hand cream will also do. Before going to bed, apply a generous amount of hand cream to your hands - until they are really slippery. Then put on a pair of cotton gloves and enjoy soft, smooth hands the next morning.
