Where does Spilanthol come from?
Spilanthol, the Latin name for Bio-Botox, is extracted from paracress and works like a natural local anesthetic. It was used early on in folk medicine to treat headaches and toothache, as it has a mild anaesthetic effect. The flower heads of this plant contain 1.2 percent spilanthol - an effective concentration, even in the anti-ageing field.
Can spilanthol replace normal Botox?
Yes and no. Spilanthol is not quite as strong as botulinum toxin, because the neurotoxin Botox is injected directly into the muscle and completely paralyzes its ability to contract. This has the effect of visibly relaxing wrinkles for up to six months, but also carries the risk of leading to the loss of personal facial expressions and, in extreme cases, muscle flaccidity. Incidentally, regular Botox is not available in creams because the molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. This is where plant-based Bio-Botox comes into play.
How exactly does spilanthol work?
In creams, the plant substance primarily ensures that unconscious facial expressions are reversibly "anaesthetized". It immediately relaxes the facial areas in a natural way and delays the ageing of the skin when used continuously. Spilanthol strengthens the fibroblasts, facial expression lines are immediately softened and deeper wrinkles are reduced over time. In contrast to botulinum toxin, however, the muscles can still be moved after the application of spilanthol. The complexion appears fresher and more rested, but not unnaturally smoothed and stiffened. To date, the active ingredient from paracress has mainly been used in day, night and eye creams, serums and face masks. However, the beauty industry is working flat out on body products. An optimum anti-ageing effect can be achieved by combining the Bio-Botox with other effective ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides etc. - and of course UV protection. Would you like to try Spilanthol? It is available as Facesplash To Go for approx. 20.95 euros or as High Potency Facelift Booster for approx. 27.95 euros.
