Lightweight for the complexion
Now the skin needs intensive hydrating care, preferably in the form of a highly concentrated serum. These gel-based powerhouses don't just moisturize. Those with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid also help to retain moisture in the skin. Tip: Keep the product in the fridge - the result is a double freshness boost. Sun, heat - the sensitive eye area needs special attention, especially in summer. This applies to the entire area, including the eyelids. Choose a product with an additional cooling metal roll-on ball. Combine the application of eye care with a relaxing massage. To do this, place your middle and index fingers loosely on top of each other and gently pat the eye area above the brows from the inside out, then repeat several times on the way back below the brows. For the texture, you should opt for a gel-based formula. Oily, rich creams are best given a (summer) break now.
Fresh-up quickies
Ideally, this starts in the morning in the shower. Choose an invigorating shower gel with citrusy aromas to start the day in a good mood and feel like you're on vacation in the Mediterranean. It's better to leave the rich body cream in the cupboard during the summer months, a hydrating body spray is now the right option. On really hot days, after-sun lotion refreshes us just like on vacation - it cools and moisturizes. If you are already plagued by redness, reach for a thermal water spray. This not only moisturizes the skin, but also infuses it with valuable minerals and strengthens the protective barrier. It also has a calming and soothing effect - making it the perfect helper for sunburn and mosquito bites. Tip: A travel size in your handbag can be used as a mini shower at any time.
The power of water
Do you know what it's like: you come back from a shopping trip and your feet are literally hot? That can happen in summer. What can help? A pleasant footbath with a few ice cubes will cool you down. Then put your feet up and treat them to an ice spray. Ah, how relaxing. Do you have heavy, swollen and tired legs? No wonder, because the veins dilate in the heat, blood circulation slows down and fluids are no longer transported away properly. The result: swollen limbs. Vein sprays, such as those containing verveine (verbena), provide quick and effective relief. On vacation by the sea, you can of course also jump into the water for a quick refreshment. For those at home: Alternating showers and cool showers also stimulate the circulation and revitalize the mind and body.
Smart snacking
High temperatures and heavy food - that doesn't go together at all. Our tip: cooling foods such as fruit and lots of herbs. Melons, cucumbers and berries are high in water and low in calories, making them the perfect summer snack. A combination of pineapple and mint pesto, for example, is very refreshing. Simply peel the sweet fruit and cut it into pieces, pluck the mint leaves from the stem, crush them with sugar in a mortar or put them in a blender. Sprinkle the crumbly pesto over the pineapple cubes. This is delicious, light and easy to digest. And for those who prefer something savory: a cold cucumber and mint soup with low-fat yogurt or a Mediterranean gazpacho (cold vegetable soup) not only taste great, they also provide important minerals that the body needs on hot days.
