Everyone knows that our skin needs special sun protection at the height of summer. But we shouldn't underestimate the sun in spring either. Our expert knows what you should pay particular attention to now and which sun cream is the right one.

✽ Getting the skin used to the sun slowly

This is how the skin builds up its own sun protection: If you can, spend as much time as possible in the fresh air. This is the only way the skin can develop its own protection. And this is how you gently acclimatize your skin to the sun's rays:

✽ Avoid blazing sun

Even in May, the skin needs sun protection: the May sun seems much weaker than the sun in August. But be careful: the ozone concentration is lower in spring than in summer. As a result, the UV rays are almost as strong as in summer - despite the cool breeze that blows from time to time. Therefore: spend more time in the shade.

✽ Eat the right food

There are foods that increase the skin's natural sun protection. Particularly recommended: carrots, tomatoes and spinach.

✽ Sun protection through clever clothing

The more tightly woven your clothing is, the better it protects you. If you are very sensitive or work outdoors a lot, you can use special sun protection textiles. These are labeled with a UV protection factor (UPF) or the UV standard 801 test seal.

✽ Which sun cream?

Apply sunscreen to uncovered areas of the body. Choose a product with sun protection factor 25 and UV-A and UV-B protection - this is indicated on the bottle/tube.
