Toothpaste with fluoride: How dangerous is the substance?

Can toothpaste with fluoride be dangerous for the human body? The answer is quite clear: no, fluoride in toothpaste is not harmful to health. On the contrary: fluoride prevents tooth decay and hardens tooth enamel. Dentists warn that anyone who brushes their teeth with toothpaste without fluoride will sooner or later develop tooth decay.

Without fluoride Toothpastes are currently advertised as containing no fluoride. However, the experts at Stiftung Warentest rate these products as "poor" (12/17). The reason: there are no serious studies to show that the substitute active ingredients in the pastes protect against tooth decay just as effectively as toothpaste with fluoride.

Poisoning It is practically impossible to poison yourself with fluoride. Fluoride does not cause cancer, as is claimed on the Internet. And as with everything, the dose makes the poison: an adult in this country consumes between 0.4 and 1.5 mg of fluoride per day - the guideline value is 3.5 mg. Incidentally, fluoride is not only found in toothpaste, but also in black tea, fish and water. And: Fluoride is only absorbed by swallowing - it is spat out when you brush your teeth.
