Bye, bye, sandals, ballerinas and co.
Even if the pain of saying goodbye is great, sandals, ballerinas and other airy footwear must now be mothballed, because: It's simply too cold for almost bare feet. Even if the autumn sun bravely makes its way through the clouds, the warm summer feeling is a fallacy. So if you don't look at the calendar and banish summer footwear to the attic, you run the risk of autumn flu, bladder infections and other illnesses caused by inappropriate footwear. Caution: Even the odd pair of sneakers should now be put into hibernation. The fabric versions of the popular casual shoe in particular don't keep you warm at all, but allow moisture and cold to have free rein.
This footwear suits the cold season
Boots are the trend for fall 2016. Not only do they keep your feet warm and dry, they also have a great style factor.
Fall 2016 is the bootie fall. And it's okay to look a little rougher. The boots, which appear as ankle boots in the fine version and are a little reminiscent of safety shoes in the rough version, can be combined with everything the female fall wardrobe has to offer:
- If you want a break in style, you can combine the rough, chunky-looking boots with a dress. This city-look outfit is certainly an eye-catcher.
- However, if you want to wear the boots in style, combine them with skinny jeans.
In addition to boots, flatforms are still in this fall. These eye-catching shoes with a mighty sole are joined by other eye-catching shoe variants that rob autumn of its dullness. This year, standing out is the key. This means that many a bad purchase from previous years can be brought back. Velvet loafers and high-heeled shoes with fur options are allowed this year. Platform shoes can also be worn again.
However, the same applies here: The shoes must be closed and therefore suitable for the weather conditions. In terms of color, the brave ones will be opting for white and metallic this fall. But be careful: don't wear them in dirty weather! The shoes printed in floral patterns that will be strolling the autumnal streets this year also fall into the "particularly eye-catching" category.
With all this attention to looks and style, a word about size is in order: if your feet are always cold in fall and winter, you should check whether your shoes are too tight. If this is the case, blood circulation will be inhibited and your cold feet will cling to your body like lead. However, there are also other factors that could trigger cold feet, such as irregular blood pressure, obesity or even diabetes.
Autumn homewear
Warm slippers can now be taken out of the wardrobe again just in time for the start of fall.
Even in your own four walls, the barefoot season is now well and truly over. Even if underfloor heating provides pleasant warmth under your toes, it is still too cold to stroll around the house without socks or barefoot in the long term. Instead, slippers with a feel-good flair should move in. Slippers or slippers in particular will keep you feeling barefoot for a while into the fall. However, if you're going outside, you'll need an option with a sturdy sole.
Foot care for the cold season
In addition to the tips on the style factor in the cold season, the focus should now also be on the feel-good and care factor. The problem that feet have to contend with in the cold season is heat build-up and sweaty feet. The foot experts have put together these tips:
- Because bare feet would certainly be too cold in the long run (even if that's what your feet would prefer), it makes sense to wear socks made from natural fibers. As a duo in combination with breathable shoes, they ensure heat circulation and the necessary temperature balance. Nevertheless, if you're not the coldest of people, you can really do your feet some good with regular fresh air.
- Feet also need that extra bit of care in the cold season: rich creams in the morning and evening prevent feet from drying out. If you suffer from particularly chapped skin, you should use creams with aloe vera. Regular foot baths (including alternating foot baths and Kneipp baths) are also beneficial and can prevent icy cold feet.
- Feet like summer and there is a simple reason for this: in the cold season, the general conditions for feet are generally poor. Packed in thick socks, they are crammed into heavy boots. And to make matters worse, they have to stand still on the floor all day - in an overheated room. The odor-intensive result is sweaty feet. If you want to prevent this, you should walk barefoot every day and wash your feet daily. If you don't have to wear sturdy shoes for safety reasons, you can consider bringing slippers to the office.
