Volare flounces! A summer trend enters its second round

Flounces and ruffles - we fell in love with pieces with these enchanting details last summer. This season, we're simply continuing the "frill-intoxicated" trend. Whether ruffles or flounces. When cleverly worked in the right places, these eye-catching fabric appliqués can even be real figure-flatterers, says Chrissie from Edelfabrik. The fashion blogger reveals how she styles the trend perfectly here.

The difference between ruffles and flounces

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between ruffles and flounces? I'll be honest, I had to consult the internet. Flounces are round cut pieces of fabric and are not gathered. It is precisely this gathering that distinguishes a flounce from a frill. Zack, I've learned something again.

Too old for ruffles and flounces?

Some of you may be wondering whether flounces and ruffles are still wearable after the age of 20. I think: definitely! Depending on how you combine them.

Admittedly, pieces with flounces or ruffles often look a bit girly. But aren't we all still a bit of a girl at heart? In this look from the Edelfabrik, the basis is a piece that screams "girl" twice over. Pink plus flounces combined in a midi skirt. And at over 40 ;).

But the simple Lagerfeld T-shirt in gray and the plain white pumps downgrade the whole look a bit. The print on the shirt with Karl Lagerfeld morphed into Choupette is also worth a smile.

Flounce skirt - a figure flatterer

The pink midi skirt can actually do a lot for your figure. The wide waistband of the flounce skirt ensures that the shirt can be easily tucked into the skirt. The skirt sits quite high on the waist and thus manages to effortlessly conceal a small tummy line. For women who, like me, are not that tall, heels would generally be better with an outfit like this. With completely flat shoes, the look would appear a little too squat, especially because of the length of the skirt.

In addition to skirts, there are currently also beautiful flounce dresses and flounce tops, and ruffle blouses can also be seen very often in the stores at the moment. For the fashion-conscious, there are now also stylish 7/8 pants with a ruffled leg.

Another tip from me for online shopping: we now know the difference between ruffles and flounces, but if you are looking for beautiful pieces in this style, you should definitely search for both terms.
