12 important hair care tips for the winter

Sub-zero temperatures, strong winds and dry heating air: all of this is hard on your hair in the cold season. With our hair care tips and tricks, this will soon be a thing of the past.

Hair well protected

Knitted balloon and peaked caps are a real fashion must-have this fall and also suit women who don't have a "cap face". A great way to do this is to casually tuck the tips low at the back of the head and pin them in place with hairpins. Cool look!

Pampering brushes

Pay attention to the quality of your grooming tools. Hairbrushes with boar bristles massage the scalp and at the same time distribute the oil from the scalp to the ends - where it is really needed.

Flying lessons? Cancelled

When you come in from the cold to warm rooms in winter and brush your hair, it literally stands on end. Tip: rub a dollop of all-purpose cream between your palms and run it over your hair. Tames it immediately. Hand cream also works, by the way.

A little care ritual for a healthy mane

Always use a conditioner after washing to make your hair easier to comb. This remains in damp hair for a few minutes and is then rinsed out again. It forms a protective film around the hair, closes the cuticle and ensures suppleness and shine. If you want more, use an intensive hair mask.

Scalp balm from the inside

Hair is more brittle in winter and the scalp is usually drier. Itching and redness are the first signs of this. Omega-3 fats from the inside (as capsules with linseed, hemp or walnut oil, also in linseed, walnuts or tuna, salmon, herring and mackerel) can replenish the missing fats in the skin's barrier layer. This quickly restores balance to the scalp.

Protective shield for the head

A day in the cozy warmth of a sauna or steam bath is a highlight in the cold season. However, your hair can really suffer in the dry heat of a sauna. Nourishing rescue: massage a hair treatment into damp hair and wrap a towel turban around it. This allows the hair to benefit from the heat in the sauna because the active ingredients can penetrate better.

Salt against dryness

Why so irritated? If your scalp is rebelling, this hair pack with the Schuessler salt sodium chloratum can help: dissolve 10 to 20 tablets of Schuessler salt no. 8 in a cup of hot water, leave to cool and massage into your hair. Wrap a towel around your head and leave on overnight. Wash out well with shampoo in the morning.

Give your hair a treat

Dull, lackluster hair? Limescale residue from tap water may be to blame, especially in areas with hard water. Therefore: after washing, rinse again with a liter of still mineral water. Alternatively: Dissolve 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (for light hair) or red wine vinegar (for dark and reddish hair) in a liter of water and pour over the hair. This neutralizes limescale and makes the hair shine. Do not rinse out.
