6 volume haircuts for fine hair

Although the right hair care and styling can create fuller hair, the haircut has to be right to create real volume for fine hair. From pixie to bob to long layered cut, we show you six hairstyles for more volume and a real dream mane.

Clever short hairstyles

Whether it's a pixie cut or a compact bob, short hairstyles are perfect for voluminous haircuts and are also always in fashion and work without much effort. Especially those with thin hair should consider parting with their long mane. The reason: short hairstyles are particularly suitable for fine hair, as the hair is lighter and has more volume at the roots. The effect is even stronger if the hair is worn shorter at the nape of the neck, as this creates a beautifully shaped back of the head. There are many ways to make fine hair look fluffier with the right hairstyle: from a wild side parting to a cool quiff.

Fashionable medium-length hair

If your hair falls to your shoulders, there's almost nothing like a layered cut to bring more liveliness into play. Here, the outer sections are cut shorter than the inner sections. This technique makes the hairstyle look lighter, looser and thicker, as the layers support each other. The ends of this hairstyle for fine hair are usually thinned out slightly to give the hair more bounce. Important: trim the ends regularly, otherwise there is a risk of split ends. And: For very fine hair, thick graduations are not beneficial. An extra portion of volume is provided by shorter supporting hair. The professional cuts these with special scissors under the top hair. These short hairs support the longer hair and push it upwards.

Casual long hairstyles

A layered cut is also a good volume haircut for long hair. However, the mane does not have to be cut all the way around, but can be cut only at the front or only from shoulder height. An alternative: waves or curls, as these immediately make the hair look fuller. The bigger and looser they fall, the more voluminous the mop of hair will look. For this look, knead some curl mousse into the hair. Then divide into sections and twist onto the rod strand by strand - but spray on heat protection first. Do you have very fine hair? Then try tousling it. Separate one strand at a time and brush gently against the direction of growth. Finally, mist the top coat with a little spray and smooth it out again.

The calligraphy cut as a volume haircut

The latest trend haircut for more volume and a healthier, fuller mane is the so-called calligraphy cut. In the VOX show "Höhle der Löwen", master hairdresser Frank Brormann presented this special technique developed by him, which is designed to restore shine and volume to fine and flat hair. With the special volume haircut, the hair is not cut with scissors but with a special knife called a calligraph. The aim is to cut the hair more gently.
