Even if it's a daily routine for all of us, there's still a lot we can do wrong when brushing our hair.

1. only comb the lengths and ends

You'd better get out of the habit quickly. If you only comb the lengths and ends, you are neglecting an important part: the roots! On the one hand, it's good to run the bristles of the hairbrush over our scalp, and on the other, it also stimulates blood circulation. As a result, the hair becomes stronger and grows faster.

2. using an unsuitable hairbrush

The right brush is definitely half the battle. When buying, make sure you get a hairbrush that is tailored to the individual needs of your hair. For thick or long hair, for example, a large paddle brush is perfect. If you have curls, on the other hand, it is better to style your hair with a wide-toothed comb. Also: Instead of using plastic bristles, opt for a brush with natural bristles.

3. do not clean the brush

It is important to clean your hairbrush regularly, as it contains various product and sebum residues. Pathogens can also form on the scalp. It is sufficient to wash the brush with a little warm water and shampoo.

4. brushing your hair too often

Yes, you read that right, we can comb our hair too much. However, this stimulates the production of sebum on the scalp and the hair becomes greasy much more quickly. So we shouldn't take the old adage "100 brush strokes a day" to heart and rather do a few brush strokes less.

5. combing wet hair

Would you have known? Anyone who combs their wet mane directly after showering is making a big mistake! When wet, the hair is even more sensitive, as it almost swells up due to the water. The cuticle layer is open and the hair tends to break off more quickly in this state.
