The Bergdoktor has been broadcast on ZDF and ORF for 10 years now. Each episode reaches an average of 6.78 million people.

Fact 1: The location

Dramatic scenes take place in the Hall series clinic... Not at all! This is not a clinic at all, the interior shots are filmed quite inconspicuously in the tennis hall in Ellmau am Wilden Kaiser. The exterior scenes are filmed at the hospital in Schwaz, about 30 kilometers east of Innsbruck.

Fact 2: The surgery

Dr. Gruber's practice always has the nameplate of his predecessor "Dr. Roman Melchinger" (Siegfried Rauch) on it during breaks in filming. It is only replaced when filming is in progress - a precautionary measure taken by the film crew, as the "Dr. Gruber" sign has often disappeared without a trace.

Fact 3: The stylists

We all know and love having finally found the hairdresser we trust. It's the same with the main characters. They always go to the same stylist so that there are no cutting mistakes later on. Depending on the set and location, several scenes are produced in one day that belong to different episodes. It would of course be disastrous if the hair suddenly looked completely different from one scene to the next.

Fact 4: The car

Typical man: mountain doctor Hans Sigl has given his standard Mercedes a name. He affectionately calls the moss-green 200 series W 123 (built in 1984) "Ranzbimmel", which is another way of saying "slingshot". According to the script, the old car is an heirloom from its predecessor.

Fact 5: The daughter

In real life, movie daughter Ronja Forcher has founded an acting group, the "Alice Ensemble", together with four actress friends. The young actresses mainly perform on stage in Vienna.

Fact 6: The crew

It goes without saying that a television production is costly. Around 50 employees from the production company ndF are involved in every Bergdoktor shoot. This includes an interior prop master, a stunt woman, a drone cameraman and, and, and...

Fact 7: The history

The doctor's surgery in the series can look back on a long history. It is an old farm and was first mentioned in the local chronicles of Ellmau in 1694. When the film crew discovered the farm for the series, it didn't even have an electricity connection.

Fact 8: The reality

The Bergdoktor has even made it into the ethics lessons of an A-level class from Heilbronn. The pupils had come to the fan day together with their ethics teacher and had previously studied some of the cases in the series intensively.

Fact 9: The fans

Victoria, Texas, is home to Dr. Yusuke Yahagi, a long-time and knowledgeable fan of the series. A lifelong dream came true for him when he was allowed to play an extra role during an exclusive set visit.

Fact 10: The set

Is it all fake on TV? Not in the Bergdoktor - the anesthesia and ultrasound machines in the series' intensive care unit are all fully functional. This allows the series to portray all medical procedures as realistically as possible. The team also receives expert support from a doctor and a nurse.
