Bunte claims to have heard from insiders.
His fight against the illness
The father of Tal and Gil Ofarim (35) was admitted to hospital for several months in January 2017 with pneumonia and flu, where he was put into an induced coma. However, he seemed to have recovered from the subsequent heart surgery and even started performing again. Last October, he celebrated his 80th birthday with his family.
Son Gil mourns the loss of his beloved father
Son Gil expresses his grief for his father Abi with a post on his Instagram account. The black and white photo shows four hands holding each other by the wrists, presumably including his father's and his own. The singer doesn't seem to have the right words yet, so he only adds three dots. His fans try to support him with numerous expressions of sympathy and compassionate words in the comments.
Chart hits and gold records
Abi Ofarim achieved international fame in the 60s together with his then wife as the singing duo Esther & Abi Ofarim. They stormed the charts with hits such as "Cinderella Rockefella" and "Morning of my Life".
Ofarim was awarded 59 gold records. Later, he was primarily successful as a music producer. In his autobiography "Light & Shadow", the musician wrote about his drug excesses and his conflicts with the law at the end of the 1970s due to drug possession and suspected tax evasion.
We wish his loved ones much strength during this difficult time.
