Greenleaf (season 5, start on 12.8. on Netflix)
This is what Greenleaf is about
Together with his wife Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield), Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) leads a large church congregation in Memphis, Tennessee. Their children and their spouses are also active in the megachurch. The congregation comprises thousands of African-American churchgoers. It soon becomes clear that not everything here is as virtuous as it appears at first glance. The congregation has as many scandalous secrets as it has believers. When daughter Grace "Gigi" (Merle Dandridge), who was thought to be lost, returns to the family after decades of absence, things get mixed up and all kinds of secrets come to light.
The reason for Gigi's return is the suicide of her sister Faith. While James is very happy about his daughter's visit, his relationship with his mother is extremely strained. And the other family members are not particularly pleased to see Gigi either. After all, she was an excellent preacher before she left and was set to succeed her father. Gigi finds allies in her aunt Mavis, who owns a jazz club and is estranged from the family. She is also the one who informs Gigi of the supposed reason why Faith took her own life. Gigi now decides to stay to get justice for her sister ...
Of course, there are also plenty of dark family secrets, nasty intrigues and tough power struggles in the fifth season. Bishop Greenleaf is even in danger of losing his church to an adversary. If you haven't seen the series yet, you can now watch all seasons in one go, as the family drama ends with this season.
