Melinda "Mel" Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) had actually imagined things very differently. When she responded to the advertisement for a job as a nurse in the small Californian town of Virgin River, she had hoped for a fresh start that would make her forget her old life completely.
But as soon as she arrives in the city, her new, cozy house in the woods turns out to be a total dump.
Her future boss Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson), a grumpy older gentleman, is very hostile towards Mel. He is of the firm opinion that he doesn't need a new nurse and decides to make life difficult for Melinda. Mayor Hope McCrea (Annette O'Toole), who placed the job advertisement, does her best to mediate between the quarrelling parties. She wants Mel to stay in the town.
Fortunately, there are also a few other residents who are happy to see a breath of fresh air in the old town. Among them is Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), who works in the local bar ...
The first season ended with a blatant cliffhanger that left fans worried. Now the new episodes pick up directly where the last events left off. Is there a chance for Jack and Mel?
The series is based on a 20-part book series by American author Robyn Carr.
