There was no danger to life
Manager Christine Knoche-Gaydos writes on Jürgen Drews' Facebook page: "It is true that Jürgen Drews had to undergo an operation this morning due to an impending intestinal blockage. However, as Jürgen went to hospital in good time and the operation could therefore be well prepared, it was not an emergency operation. There was also no acute danger to his life at any time."
Jürgen Drews has since undergone the operation. His manager continues: "Jürgen came through the operation, in which scarred tissue responsible for the impending bowel obstruction was removed in a minor procedure, very well," the statement continues. As soon as further news is available, it will be communicated to all interested parties.
Did Jürgen Drews take on too much?
According to "Bild", the "King of Mallorca" was admitted to hospital on Sunday to be operated on Monday morning. According to the newspaper, he has a life-threatening intestinal blockage: "Jürgen is to be operated on Monday morning. We'll know more after that," said his spokeswoman Christine Knoche-Gaydos.
A martyrdom
Just two and a half weeks ago, Jürgen Drews caught a gastrointestinal infection. "I've never been this ill before," the 73-year-old commented on his illness to Bild. Drews performed in front of around 17,000 fans in Dortmund on Saturday - the first concert after his hospital stay. In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag", he said: "I had very weak knees - Ramona told me to take a chair up with me."
We wish him a speedy recovery!
