"Let's Dance" premiere: Kerstin Ott dances with a woman

RTL's show "Let's Dance" has been proving for twelve years that ballroom dancing is by no means dusty. Now the channel is dispelling another cliché. Participant and pop singer Kerstin Ott (37) will be dancing with a woman.

One condition for participation

Kerstin Ott may be at home on stage, but things are a little different on the dance floor. "I'm up for the challenge and dancing is a bit of a nightmare for me when I think about the past," she admits in an interview with RTL.de. No wonder the "Die immer lacht" performer had a crucial condition for her participation in "Let's Dance". She wanted a female dance partner. "It would be strange for me to dance with a man. It's nice to show that there's more to dance than this classic dance," she explains.

And she already has an idea of which professional dancer she would like to float across the dance floor with. "Isabell would be my dream partner," says the 37-year-old. "I find her very likeable and I think it would also be a good fit on a personal level."

Happily in a relationship with partner Karolina

In her private life, the musician has been in a relationship with her partner Karolina for several years. The two got married in October 2017. They are raising Karolina's two children together. Kerstin is appreciated by fans for her open approach to her sexuality and is a role model for many.

Now she is looking forward to bringing a breath of fresh air to the dance show. "I think it's also nice for many young people or older people to know that things are moving forward again. And it's becoming more and more normal these days to be able to show that."
