Rosamunde Pilcher: "The Secret of the Island of Flowers"

Amy Harding has a big dream: she wants to bring her grandparents' neglected flower farm on the Isles of Scilly back into bloom. But before she can enjoy a blooming landscape, she has to uncover a family secret.

John pulls the emergency brake

Because the business is not making enough money despite all his efforts, Amy's (Eva-Maria Grein von Friedl) husband John (Christian Natter) decides to return to his old job. He accepts a position as a professor of literature at Plymouth University. As luck would have it, Amy's mother Maggie (Marie Theres Kroetz Relin) also lives there. As the mother-daughter relationship is extremely strained, Amy decides not to give up on her dream and stay on the island.

Unfulfilled desire to have children: do Amy and John have a future?

However, this decision quickly becomes a stress test for Amy and John. They are actually a happy couple - if it weren't for John's desire to have children, which Amy doesn't want to fulfill. As she has not experienced any motherly love from Maggie and has grown up without a father, she believes she is overwhelmed with a child and is not a good mother.

What secret is mother Maggie hiding?

In addition to the long-distance relationship, Amy's hesitation about having children is increasingly gnawing at the marriage. During this delicate phase, John meets Maggie's attractive neighbor, Judith. Maggie has the loving relationship with her that she was never able to develop with her daughter. Then Ian (Urs Remond) turns up on the island. The attractive Northern Irishman helps Amy to get the farm into the black. Amy has no idea that Ian is also the key to a dark secret that has overshadowed her family since childhood ...
