"The Voice Senior": Sat.1 is looking for singing talents 60+

It's not as if there aren't enough talent shows out there. But now the broadcaster Sat. 1 is actually bringing another casting format to TV. After "The Voice of Germany" and "The Voice Kids" , an expert jury is now also looking for "The Voice Senior" and the 60+ generation can finally prove their singing talent.

The auditions for "The Voice Senior" took place in six different German cities in February and March. The show will start in winter 2018/2019. While the minimum age to apply for the original "The Voice of Germany" is 16, singers over the age of 60 are now being sought.

Familiar faces on the jury

There will also be "old hands" on the jury - at least as far as their experience in the revolving chair is concerned. "With Mark Forster, Sasha, Yvonne Catterfeld and The BossHoss, we have been able to recruit five credible musicians for the show. All of them have already proven that they are fantastic coaches for our talents," says Sat.1 Managing Director Kaspar Pflüger. In front of them, sprightly pensioners, silver surfers and the young at heart over 60 will be able to show how much vocal power and life experience they have.

The concept

The concept of the show is the same as its two predecessors. The blind auditions take place first, in which the jury can only listen to the talents and decide in favor of the candidate with a buzzer. Once all the judges' teams are full, it's on to the next rounds, where the judges coach their talents for the following shows. Here, the candidates compete against each other in so-called "battles", i.e. singing duels.

The show is hosted by Lena Gercke and Thore Schölermann.
