12th Kinderlachen Gala: how glamorous the event was

It was a gala of legends. On Saturday evening, November 26, the Kinderlachen Gala took place in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle and for the twelfth time, social commitment was the top priority. Among those honored was Tony Marshall, who has been working with his foundation since 1999 to develop new forms of housing and employment for people with disabilities. At the end of the Kinderlachen Gala, award winners, laudators, Kinderlachen ambassadors and founders presented the total donations raised for children in need throughout 2016: 429,000 euros.

Pop legend Tony Marshall is delighted that his foundation has received the KIND Award. "There are not only people who stand in the sun, but also in the shade. With his foundation, Tony Marshall and his daughter Stella have shown what is possible. They are committed to helping people with disabilities to lead a good life and be reintegrated into society. Tony is the great driving force, Stella the soul and idea generator of the foundation," said track and field athlete Heinz Fütterer, who has been friends with Marshall for 70 years, in his laudatory speech. "Tony, you are a valuable person."

As ambassador of Make-A-Wish Deutschland e.V., actress Sophie Wepper accepted the KIND Award in the "Organization" category for the association's outstanding work.
