Our goal is to find ourselves. We'll tell you here how to make this a little easier.

Why should you find yourself?

For a self-determined and happy life, it is a basic prerequisite that we have found ourselves and are true to ourselves. Puberty in particular is often seen as a phase of self-discovery in life. We can only congratulate those who have found themselves after this turbulent time. Because the question "Who am I?" continues to occupy many people well into adulthood. There are numerous triggers for this. Sometimes it is a change in life or a drastic experience. But sometimes this question also occupies us after a long time, when everything actually went according to plan. Have I perhaps been forced into a role or am I living according to the patterns that were set for me? There is nothing wrong with this if these patterns correspond to your own wishes. However, if you only obey social rules because "that's the way it should be", then you probably won't be happy in the long term. And it is your right to question yourself in these phases and to find yourself and your own goals.

How can you find yourself?

In order to find yourself, you should first carefully assess the current situation in your life. We deliberately say "assess", you should not judge yourself. This assessment should be objective. It is not important for the assessment of your current situation what is considered desirable in society, but how you are. The pressure from outside and the associated feeling of having to bend yourself makes you unhappy and, in the worst case, even ill. Therefore, remain objective in your assessment. Then you can find yourself without judging what you have found. Only then can you accept what you have found.

There are various ways of defining your current situation and character, which are best used together:

- Create a resume. This is not a CV for a job application. Write down what has particularly influenced you and what has changed you. What are your wishes and thoughts? Make sure that you do not limit yourself.
- In your everyday behavior, try to act the way you feel and not the way others expect you to. This does not mean that you should go against every convention, but you should feel comfortable with your behavior and not pretend.
- Seek silence. Don't distract yourself, but listen to yourself and listen to your inner voice and your own intuition.

Finding yourself is a process. You should take your time as if you were getting to know a stranger. If you regularly take time to get to know yourself better, the things you like and the things you really want to do, then you will understand yourself better step by step.

The path is the goal

Once you have found yourself and defined your goals, you will be better able to realize them. This does not mean that you should build castles in the air. When you find yourself, you should remain realistic and adapt these wishes to the circumstances. It helps to play through various plans for the future and consider the consequences. If you know yourself well, you can make better decisions for the future.

Finding yourself does not mean changing everything from one day to the next. The journey is the reward, as the saying goes. And if you set out to find yourself, you will automatically change your behavior and possibly your life.
