Should I or shouldn't I? Sometimes it's not so easy to make a decision. Especially when it comes to things that mean a big change. Accept the job offer? Get involved in a new partnership? Good thing there are a few tips to help you make the right choice.
1 Set a date
We often tend to think about a decision forever - but that doesn't get us anywhere. Therefore: set yourself a time limit by when you want to have made a choice - without excuses.
2 Change your perspective
Create a good framework for making decisions. The mind switches off under pressure or stress. And try the following exercise: look at yourself from the outside. What advice would you give to the person you see in front of you? At times like this, consciously pay attention to your breathing. This will also calm your mind and spirit.
3 Include different points of view
Get different points of view, even from critics. Ask them to consider all possible counter-arguments for a decision and present them to you. This opens up new perspectives and helps you to deal with a particular topic more openly.
4 Listen to your own needs
We often behave the way others want us to - even when it comes to personal decisions. Listen deep inside yourself. Do you really want to change something of your own accord?
5 Overcome fear
Having to make a decision can put pressure on you. To avoid falling into "procrastinationitis" out of fear, the following exercise will help: ask yourself how relevant your decision will still be for you in the next five years. This thought immediately makes the decision seem less important for our lives. And: Ultimately, a decision is always an experience from which we can learn.
