What actually is happiness?
There is hardly a universally valid definition of happiness - after all, this feeling depends on an extremely subjective perception. Nevertheless, there are certain things that we can all agree on: Social activities, socializing with friends and family make us happy. At least that's what a representative study by the German Institute for Economic Research found. This is also backed up by a study by Harvard University, which has been researching people's happiness for no less than 80 years. US psychiatrist Dr. Robert Waldinger concludes: "Taking care of your health is important. But maintaining good relationships is just as important." Germans also have their own convictions - according to a survey by the Sinus Institute and YouGov, the majority agree with the statement "Everyone is the architect of their own happiness".

World Day of Happiness
The German Homeopathic Union (DHU) is taking World Happiness Day as an opportunity to take a closer look at this topic. Happiness is a comprehensive, multifaceted matter that has a lot to do with self-determination and freedom of choice. For example, dedicating yourself to your family and friends or directing your health issues in the right therapeutic direction. You can find more information on this at www.zumglueckentscheideich.de.

Dr. Gesine Klein, Head of Homeopathy at the DHU: "A recent survey conducted by the forsa Institute in February 2020 shows that 33.5 million Germans use homeopathy and are satisfied with it. Many of them successfully use homeopathy for self-medication. Or they seek expert advice from a doctor, alternative practitioner or pharmacist. In principle, however, it is always the patient who must be helped by the treatment. And that is why they choose homeopathic or another form of therapy. We are lucky in Germany that we have the choice. That we can decide for ourselves which therapy we want to use. Fortunately, everyone decides for themselves what is good for them - and not just on World Happiness Day!"
