These 3 teas help with a sore throat
If you feel a scratchy throat, pain when swallowing, hoarseness or even a real cold coming on, warm herbal teas can help. Start early at the first signs, as this will help to alleviate the symptoms from the outset and can also make the course of a cold milder. Teas with ginger, sage or thyme are particularly recommended for throat conditions. They loosen mucus and have an antibacterial effect. Drink several cups a day and you will soon feel better! Ginger tea with fresh ginger: Wash the tuber, but leave the skin on, as there are important ingredients in it or directly underneath. Cut the tuber into slices and place them in a cup or pot. Pour boiling water over it and leave the ginger to infuse for around 15 minutes. The essential oils and gingerol, which is responsible for the spiciness, provide quick relief from a sore throat. Ginger tea also has an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect. You can also add a little lemon for more vitamin C, and a tablespoon of honey is also good for a sore throat. Sage tea: Herbal tea with sage is an old household remedy for throat disorders. The essential oils have an expectorant, antibacterial and analgesic effect - even for more intense sore throats. You can also help by gargling: To do this, leave the brew to infuse for at least 20 minutes, strain it and gargle thoroughly several times a day. If you only drink the tea, leave it to infuse for around 10 minutes. You can use fresh sage or dried sage, the latter is more intense.
Thyme tea: Thyme also contains essential oils that have an antibacterial, disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effect. Coughs, sore throats and hoarseness are effectively soothed with the herb. The taste takes some getting used to, but health should of course be the priority. You can use fresh or dried herbs, although dried herbs always taste more intense. They should therefore be used more sparingly. Pour boiling water over the thyme and leave to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes.
