Antigen test not older than 24 hours

The following rule applies to tests: a negative rapid antigen test must not be older than 24 hours and a PCR test must not be older than 48 hours. Children up to the age of 6 and schoolchildren are exempt from this rule.

From October 11, everyone will have to pay for their own corona tests. People who cannot or are not allowed to be vaccinated are still exempt. This group of people includes, for example, children under the age of 12 or pregnant women. "Since we can already offer a comprehensive range of vaccinations to every citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany, we will end the free citizen tests for everyone with effect from October 11," said Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Bruises after coronavirus vaccination: what can be done about them?

What is the 3G rule supposed to achieve?

The number of infections and incidence rates have been rising for weeks - currently at a rapid pace. At the same time, the vaccination campaign is stagnating. The aim is to increase the incentive to get vaccinated. "The more people are vaccinated, the fewer infections we will have," said the Chancellor. If the incidence rate remains stable below 35, the federal states can suspend the regulation in whole or in part. The mask requirement still applies.
