After coronavirus vaccination: when can you start exercising again?
Have you had a coronavirus vaccination and want to start your next workout straight away? You should be careful and take it easy on the day of the vaccination, as the immune system is under a lot of strain. The injection site should also heal completely. If you feel fit the next day, then there is nothing to stop you from doing sport again. However, you should stick to light physical activity and not overexert yourself. Prof. Dr. Axel Preßler, a specialist in cardiology, internal medicine and sports medicine, told Vital.de that you should avoid heavy physical exertion, as "very intensive sport weakens the immune system and is more likely to lead to vaccination reactions". So: start exercising again slowly after the coronavirus vaccination!

When you can do which sports after the coronavirus vaccination
As already mentioned, you should take it easy on the day of the vaccination. You can start light endurance training the day after the vaccination if you feel well. Sports such as light jogging or walking are ideal. Avoid all sports that involve straining your arms, such as swimming or weight training.
You can start strength training for your arms again two to three days after the vaccination. Start carefully and only use light weights. If you have no symptoms, then increase slowly.
You should only resume intensive training, interval training, marathons or even competitions once you have fully recovered from the coronavirus vaccination. Anything else is counterproductive for your body and won't help you. On the contrary: overexertion can set you back in terms of your health and therefore also your sporting performance.
Important: Please only do sport if there are no side effects from the coronavirus vaccination!
