Prescription of cannabis on prescription
Seriously ill people who have cancer, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease or chronic pain, for example, can obtain cannabis on prescription. The active ingredients THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or CBD (cannabidiol, available over the counter from pharmacies) act on the central nervous system and influence pain perception, cognition and concentration, as well as having an antispasmodic and anxiolytic effect. However, the drug is not freely available in high doses. In principle, any doctor can prescribe it if necessary. However, they must first submit an application to the medical service of the patient's health insurance company. After approval, the narcotic prescription can be issued, but it is only valid for seven days.
Is there a risk of addiction when taking cannabis?
Then the health insurance companies will cover the costs of prescription drugs up to 540 euros per month. Don't worry: you won't become addicted by taking it. However, to be on the safe side, it is not recommended to drive.
