Who has to go into quarantine despite being fully vaccinated?
The highly contagious delta variant is considered to be significantly more contagious and dangerous than the previous coronavirus. At the same time, the mutant is more resistant to the vaccines currently available, which is why there may be a quarantine obligation in the event of contact with a person who has been proven to be infected with the delta variant. For example, the city of Cologne informs on its website: "With the entry into force of the federal ordinance, this obligation does not apply to fully vaccinated and recovered persons, unless they have had contact with a person infected with a virus variant."
According to the Oberbayerisches Volksblatt, fully vaccinated people in the Rosenheim area must also go into quarantine, even in the case of a suspected case. Munich is also following suit and told the newspaper tz"that a 14-day quarantine will be imposed on contact persons of infected persons 'with the virus variant of concern' - even if they have been vaccinated or have recovered."
There is currently no uniform nationwide regulation, but states and cities decide for themselves. Especially during the travel season, you should therefore inform yourself about the current rules, as these can change at any time.
Risk areas: Quarantine after your vacation?
Normally, you don't have to go into quarantine if you have been on vacation in a risk area. However, this may be different for virus variant areas. According to official information from the Federal Ministry of Health: "Proof of vaccination and recovery can replace a negative test result and exempt you from entry quarantine. This does not apply to previous stays in a virus variant area." Anyone who has been on vacation in a virus variant area must then go into quarantine. Here, too, the regulations can of course change.
Tip: Even if you are not traveling to a virus variant area, you may still have had contact with someone who is infected with the delta virus. To make sure you don't get caught completely cold by the quarantine after your vacation, you should stock up your pantry with the essentials before you go on vacation.
