Erika C. from Waltrop asks:
For a year now I have been getting tonsillitis, which only goes away with antibiotics - only to flare up again shortly afterwards. Should I have my tonsils removed or is there another method?
That's what general practitioner Dr. Silvia Liebel says:
If you are so often ill, there is really no alternative to having your tonsils removed. The antibiotics are obviously not able to completely eradicate the bacteria in your tonsils. Some of the pathogens have probably already become immune to the drugs. You should not wait much longer before having an operation. This is because chronically inflamed tonsils can put a strain on the whole body, including the heart.
