Whether it's a steam bath over a bowl or an inhaler: here are the most important tips you should follow.

Inhaling with a saucepan or bowl

You should use a model that is as large as possible and stable. It is sufficient for the hot water to cover the base. Children in particular must be kept at a safe distance from the pot - the hot water can cause severe burns. The same applies to inhaling over a bowl. Chamomile enhances the effect, as does salt. For a saline solution, take nine grams of salt to one liter of water.

With the inhaler

Its mask fits snugly over the mouth and nose and applies the vapor directly to the nasal mucous membranes. You can inhale two to three times a day as required.

The water temperature

Many people inhale water vapor that is far too hot. This can scald the airways and cause additional swelling of the mucous membranes. It is sufficient to heat the water to 50 to 60 degrees. If it has already boiled, it should definitely cool down.
