New study: Work makes you sick!

Are we Germans continuing to go downhill in terms of health? At least that's how it seems. And our jobs are supposedly to blame! Because too much work makes you ill!

Stress is one of the main causes of physical complaints

The opinion research institute INSA confirms what we have long feared: Work makes us ill, increasing job stress is wearing us down and making us weak. A major German daily newspaper has now published the alarming survey results.

What do Germans suffer from most?

52 percent of respondents complain of acute neck, shoulder and back pain. At 37 percent, this is the second most common complaint: Joint and limb pain. In third place with just under 30 percent: sleep disorders. What is special: In the age group between 18 and 24, one in three people suffer from back pain and one in four from sleep disorders. These complaints are actually atypical for this generation.

What is the state of mind in our country?

The survey shows that the state of mind is not exactly good either. At least according to their own assessment. 27 percent said they were suffering from exhaustion, 23 percent from stress and 14 percent from existential fear. Sounds like excessive demands.

Are there differences between the sexes?

Yes, there are clear differences between women and men. This is also confirmed by other studies and surveys on the subject of health. According to these, 55 percent of women are affected by back pain, but only 48 percent of men. Women also suffer from headaches more often (26 percent) than men (18 percent). Women also go to the doctor more often.

Work makes you ill: the main cause of problems

Almost all studies confirm thatwork makes you ill . More precisely: the constant mental and physical overload and the increasing pressure to perform are making us ill. Sitting for hours on end is also a major problem in many industries. The fact that young employees in particular are suffering from the consequences of a lack of exercise is an alarm signal.

And what do doctors advise those affected?

Are you sick from work? Exercise helps against back, joint and limb pain. If possible, make every phone call, every small conversation or even do some postal work standing up. Try to incorporate sport into your daily routine: Going for a brisk walk for half an hour every day and always taking the stairs can help.
