A visit to the urologist is also sometimes advisable for women

When men suffer from potency problems, are worried about their prostate or have trouble having sex, they go to the urologist. And to their horror, they meet one or two women there. Contrary to what you might think, the urologist is also available for women's issues. What conditions does the urologist help women with?

Cystitis
Women prefer to go to their family doctor or gynecologist with a bladder infection. But the urologist is actually responsible for this. Because all bladder diseases belong in the hands of this specialist.

Incontinence
The urologist is also responsible for bladder weakness or an overactive bladder. A cystoscopy is often necessary to reliably detect inflammatory changes in the bladder mucosa or bladder tumors. However, thanks to new equipment, this is no longer painful. The urologist can then stabilize the bladder again with an operation.

Kidney problems
The urologist is also responsible for all diseases of this important organ. The kidney functions more or less like a sewage treatment plant. It filters the blood and removes harmful substances via the urine. It also regulates blood pressure, the water and salt balance and the acid-base balance. Women are affected by kidney problems four times as often as men. The urologist can use ultrasound to determine whether the kidneys are healthy or whether the patient has kidney stones or cancer.
