According to experts, women can gain up to three kilos during their period. One reason for weight gain during your period is hormone-induced water retention in the body. This can occur as early as 14 days before your period. This means that we can already weigh more during this time. However, the water retention goes away on its own and consequently the weight drops again.
No desire for sport and exercise
Who hasn't experienced it: during our period we struggle with period pains and headaches, we feel bloated, listless and tired. Instead of going to the gym, we prefer to lie on the couch and rest. The nasty thing is, however, that we can consequently gain weight because we move less than usual during this time.
More kilos on the scales due to food cravings
Cravings are also not uncommon during your period. Many women feel more of a craving for sweets during this time. Of course, this also shows up on the scales. So instead of chocolate, potato chips and the like, it's better to snack on fruit, sweet tea or a piece of dark chocolate, then we no longer have to worry about our weight.
