More and more people are suffering from depression - reason enough to make this life-threatening illness the theme of World Health Day 2017, which is celebrated today, April 7. Education, prevention and raising awareness are the central aims of the day, which was founded by the WHO, the World Health Organization.

Depression: The number one widespread disease

It is no secret that depression has become a widespread disease. According to a study by the WHO (World Health Organization), around 5% of the population aged 18-65 in Germany currently suffer from depression that requires treatment. Expressed in figures, this means that around 3.1 million people in Germany are affected by this mental illness.
