Caries: the dentist no longer has to drill
In many cases, caries treatment is now carried out with a laser instead of a drill. The anesthetic injection is no longer necessary because the laser is almost painless. "I gently dissolve the carious tissue in the tooth and simply suck it away," explains dentist Dr. Stefan Fröhlich, head of the dental practice on the market square in Weyhe. Healthy and beautiful teeth without pain? Bring it on! Costs: approx. 50 euros per tooth.
Free tooth necks: mini-lifting for the gums
Exposed tooth necks not only look unattractive, they also hurt. The new PST (Pinhole Surgical Technique) method, which gives the gums a mini-lift, comes from the USA: This involves the dentist making a tiny little hole over the affected teeth, loosening the gums through this hole with a special instrument and pulling them over the necks of the teeth. "The procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes and the patient can return to work the next day," explains Dr. Alexander Ilbag from the Salierpraxis in Düsseldorf. The procedure costs from 500 euros.
Icon: New therapy for interdental caries
Doctors at the Charité hospital in Berlin have come up with the Icon method: the carious area is sealed with a low-viscosity plastic. The procedure is usually used for interdental caries, but more often also for smooth surface caries - these are areas on the tooth that are left behind after fixed braces. This costs around 120 euros per tooth.
Crooked teeth: correction in just a few weeks
What usually takes several years with fixed braces can be achieved in just a few weeks with new braces from the USA: Using the so-called Inman aligner, the teeth are gently moved into the new position. Ideally, patients should wear them for 15 to 20 hours a day to achieve the desired result quickly. A particular advantage: wearers simply remove the braces before eating or during important professional or private appointments. Cost of beautiful straight teeth: around 1,800 euros.
Implants: Beautiful teeth in just one day
Patients with a healthy bone and jaw structure can now receive an implant with a crown in just one day. Dentists insert a so-called nanocomposite crown, which restores the aesthetic appearance. You can expect to pay around 2,000 euros per implant.
Gums: pink beauty treatment with hyaluronic acid
Dentists have now discovered hyaluronic acid, a wrinkle smoother, for the treatment of weak gums with poor circulation. Small injections with the natural filler hyaluronic acid quickly ensure plumper connective tissue and more effective nutrient exchange. "The better the supply of nutrients, the healthier and more stable the gums are," says Milan Michalides, dentist from Stuhr near Bremen. The treatment costs 400 euros per jaw.
