Healing with hemp: The plant with superpowers

The days when hemp (lat. cannabis) was associated exclusively with a dingy stoner image are finally over. Since March last year, German doctors have been allowed to prescribe medicinal hemp again, and the health insurance fund covers the costs. Back in the 19th century, cannabis, one of the oldest and most versatile cultivated plants in the world, was one of the most frequently prescribed medicines until it was banned in 1929. This is because the plant helps with many illnesses.

Medicinal cannabis is available as oil, dried flowers or capsules on prescription from pharmacies.

For pain

Migraines, rheumatism and gout can be treated well with hemp, as it relieves pain, even after an operation, for example. For cramps In the later course of multiple sclerosis, cramps often occur. The cannabinoids relax the muscles. The involuntary twitching in Tourette's syndrome is also reduced. Cancer patients often suffer from a loss of appetite during chemotherapy. Hemp, whose ingredients make you hungry, also helps here. At the same time, nausea and vomiting are alleviated during therapy. The herb has even been used successfully to treat eating disorders.

For asthma

Cannabis has a relaxing effect on tense bronchial muscles. Inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease or arthritis can be alleviated, as hemp has an anti-inflammatory effect.

For depression

Cannabis brightens the mood. This is why it is used for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and ADHD. Medicinal hemp does not produce a high. It is offered dried or as an oil, spray or capsule.
