Seniors: Sport keeps the brain fit in old age

The closer the two halves of our brain are connected, the better it works. However, the connections weaken with age. However, this process can possibly be halted through exercise.

Exercise not only keeps the body fit in old age, the mind also benefits from sport.

US researchers found that senior citizens with good athletic endurance also had closer connections between the brain hemispheres. You don't have to be a competitive athlete to do this.

According to the study, even low to medium levels of endurance proved to be beneficial for mental abilities.
