As a home remedy for abdominal pain
So the next time you have period pains, thyme may be a better choice as a home remedy for abdominal pain. This is because painkillers have side effects and can damage the stomach and liver. Thyme does not - and it is always cheaper.
Antibacterial
But what exactly does it contain? Thyme contains many essential oils and flavonoids. These substances have an antibacterial, disinfectant, antispasmodic, expectorant, hemostatic and anti-inflammatory effect. This is why it is so well suited as a home remedy for abdominal pain, i.e. the cramp-like symptoms of menstruation. For the clinical study, the participants were given thyme oil from the pharmacy.
Make your own thyme tea
However, a tea also works well. You can also use the spice from your kitchen cupboard: pour hot water over 1 teaspoon of thyme and leave to infuse for 10 minutes.
Regulates the cycle
The flavonoids have a similar effect to oestrogen. In this way, the herb regulates the menstrual cycle. Pain is also permanently reduced if the tea or oil is taken regularly. But be careful: if you have liver damage or thyroid dysfunction, it is better to avoid it.
