And this is how it's made: Boil water and pour it over the fresh, finely ground coffee (preferably Turkish). Then stir and wait until the powder has settled. Then pour in the coffee. Do you prefer tea? You can also read from this sentence. A blend of Indian and Chinese tea is ideal, but specialties such as Earl Grey also deliver good results.
Prepare your tea in a pot and mentally prepare yourself for the ceremony. Then pour the tea into the cup without the strainer. First swirl the cup three times; then breathe into it three times. Concentrate on your question as you drink - or simply on the week ahead. Most importantly: relax. When the cup is almost empty, i.e. only a little liquid remains at the bottom of the cup, you can start.
Take the cup in your left hand (left-handers in the right), take a deep breath, close your eyes and ask your question. When you are ready, spin the cup three times in an anti-clockwise direction. Then place the cup upside down on the saucer. Wait until you are sure that all the liquid has drained out. Then turn the cup upside down. Look at the patterns, shapes and symbols in it.
The "reading" is done clockwise, starting at the handle. This represents you. The symbols closest to it are therefore particularly meaningful. Immediate events can be found just below the edge of the cup. The middle section refers to a period of up to one week, while the bottom of the cup refers to the more distant future. If a number appears here, it often refers to the number of weeks, months or even years until a certain event occurs. However, numbers can also symbolize a house number, a person or a specific number.
To be able to recognize the symbols easily, the cup is repeatedly turned and tilted.
