Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that can be caused by viruses. These are spread worldwide. There is a risk of infection in many travel destinations - especially in warm regions. These include not only long-haul destinations, but also the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe, where there is an increased risk of contracting viral hepatitis.

Many travelers are not aware of this, as the sources of infection are not always obvious.

An infection with hepatitis is often brought back from vacation undetected, as symptoms usually only appear after several weeks.
