Motorcycling, a childhood dream
"I loved riding motorcycles as a child . My older brother often took me for rides and awakened my enthusiasm. But when I was 18, my car driver's license was more important to me. And also the clothes issue. I loved clothes and wanted to look sexy. That also worked with leather gear, but I didn't have the enthusiasm to drive around in the heat wearing a helmet and heavy clothes.
Small steps to great happiness
To compensate, I bought a Vespa in my mid-20s and felt like a rocker. Although my brother just smiled tiredly. A scooter? That doesn't count. I quickly realized that when I was riding. Because motorcyclists greet each other when they meet. Always a quick left hand off the handlebars. Scooter riders are not greeted. But then my Vespa days were over.
The dream is buried
Two-wheelers are somehow impractical for trips with a husband and three children. My husband, a passionate motorcyclist himself, agreed. Apart from that, I also asked him to give up his hobby - as a father of three, he shouldn't take any risks. But we had a dream: one day we wanted to cruise the historic Route 66 together on a Harley Davidson. A year ago, we made it come true.
Happiness at last
Although I was only sitting on the back as a passenger, I was electrified. It wasn't just the rush of speed that captivated me, or the unbridled feeling of freedom. It was pure joie de vivre, incomparable to anything I had ever experienced before. As soon as I got home, I got my motorcycle license in record time and even earned the respect and esteem of the guys at driving school. Nobody laughed at me. And even before the test, my Harley was already in the garage.
Constanze is now a rocker chick
My husband and I are on tour almost every weekend and have now made lots of new friends, because the team spirit among bikers is legendary. And my kids? They can't believe that their mother is now a rocker chick. But they just think it's cool!"
