When do we talk about bullying?
Bullying is conflict-laden communication at work, at school or online. A person is systematically attacked and harassed over several months.

What is typical for perpetrators and victims?
The perpetrators often have feelings of inferiority or see their position threatened. They try to stabilize their self-esteem through bullying. Victims are usually highly motivated and have difficulty switching off.

What does it do to the victims?
For many victims, bullying initially causes sleep disorders and brooding. However, concentration problems, exhaustion and self-doubt are also common consequences. Bullying also often leads to depression and anxiety.

How can you defend yourself against it?
Bullying is an insidious process, but it is important to resolve the conflict as early as possible. It is important not to make accusations, but to send ego messages - to make it clear how you feel about the situation.

What can I do as an outsider?
Be there for the person and encourage them. Pity tends to be counterproductive and is a drag.

What is the difference to cyberbullying?
Online, the perpetrator is usually anonymous. It is therefore more difficult to defend yourself. It's also harder to keep your distance because the internet is part of everyday life and constantly accessible.
