Especially in large cities, it is becoming increasingly popular to hire cars at short notice.

With station-based Car-Sharing, cars must be dropped off where they are picked up and must be reserved in advance. With free floating, cars can be rented spontaneously via an app or customer card and dropped off anywhere within the business area.

Costs

Station-based Car-Sharing charges an average of 4-8 euros per hour for small cars, while free floating charges 14-19 euros: Here you are charged by the minute up to a certain number of kilometers, which is why it is usually only used for short inner-city trips. You have to register for both types and often also pay an admission fee.

Refueling

A fuel card is usually included with the car. Customers are asked to fill up when the tank is about a quarter full. With free floating, you are credited with driving minutes.

Insurance

Every car must have liability insurance. However, check the contract to see whether there is also fully or partially comprehensive cover. If necessary, book a protection package.
