Attention power guzzlers: use LED lamps instead of uplights!

Hidden energy guzzlers are also lurking in your household, says E.ON energy expert Annette Brunner. You can save a lot of money with this tip from the expert:

Lighting accounts for around 8 to 12 percent of a household's total electricity costs. Ceiling floodlights with halogen bulbs in particular are often unnoticed energy thieves. They usually have an output of 150 watts. An equivalent LED light rod, on the other hand, only uses 25 watts.
If you use them for 4 hours a day, you can save 47 euros a year by replacing each lamp!

As a general rule: use energy-efficient lamps, e.g. energy-saving lamps, fluorescent lamps or LEDs. High-quality LEDs in particular produce an ideal light that is almost indistinguishable from that of an incandescent lamp - they also last a long time with low power consumption. Ensure selective illuminance, for example with dimmable light. Save electricity through light management, e.g. by using motion detectors with light sensors, for example in corridors and hallways. Incidentally, Germans are among the absolute energy-saving world champions when it comes to lighting. According to the latest E.ON Energie study, 82 percent of Germans always switch off the light when they leave the room - regardless of whether they are men or women. The over-60s are particularly thrifty: Almost 90 percent of them flick the light switch when they leave the room.
