Cleaning the bathroom: We all know these cleanliness problems

Cleaning the bathroom is certainly not one of our favorite things to do. A long walk, reading a book, cooking something delicious - we really do have better things to do. It's just a shame that there are real challenges waiting for us in the bathroom. No problem with these simple tricks!

The shower curtain is dirty and greasy

Remove it from the rail and fill the bathtub with water and a little hand washing detergent. Leave the curtain to soak overnight and rinse it off the next morning. You can also clean plastic with bath spray, alternatively a little baking soda or lemon juice will do the trick. By the way: many curtains are machine-safe. Take a look at the label or packaging.

There's a smell coming from the toilet

You've already cleaned the bathroom, but it still smells unpleasant? It's probably coming from the toilet! Have you thought of everything - and also cleaned under the rim of the bowl? If so, maybe the drain is blocked. If you can't fix the problem yourself, seek help from a professional - preferably a plumber.

The tiles are dull

Do the walls and floor look rough and dull, even after intensive bathroom cleaning? Polish the surfaces with a mixture of water and vinegar essence - in a ratio of 1:2. Another option: add a dash of shampoo to the cleaning water. This is even gentler than vinegar and makes the tiles shine.

The joints are moldy

If only a few stains are visible, first try using a sponge and scouring agent or alcohol. The disadvantage of special anti-mold agents: They often contain toxic gases. If the deposits cannot be removed, the grout must be replaced.

The fittings are calcified

They really don't look nice like this. Rub the fittings with half a lemon. Vinegar cleaner or chrome care work just as well. The best way to prevent this is to wipe the tap and shower head dry after use.

Mirrors and windows fog up so quickly

Surfaces tarnish when moisture condenses on them after showering. This helps: Use a glass cleaner with an anti-fog effect (e.g. NTAB, approx. 17 euros). Alternative: Rub the mirror with shaving foam and wipe it clean with kitchen paper. Works great. However, a few streaks may form on the glass. Also heat up the bathroom properly. The warmer the air in the shower, the less steam is produced. Around 24 degrees is ideal.

The washbasin is dull

Glass, porcelain and ceramic sinks can be cleaned with bathroom cleaner or scouring milk and polished with a towel. Be careful with mineral cast: The material does not tolerate acidic cleaners. It is best to clean with water and a microfiber cloth and polish with car polish.

The shower wall is full of stains

Fresh limescale can be wiped off with washing-up liquid and a cloth. Stubborn deposits can be removed with kitchen paper and vinegar essence.
