Only on mild days
If you absolutely want to have clean, streak-free windows in winter, then only clean them on mild days. If it is colder than 5 degrees outside, the water will immediately freeze on the window panes. This means you can no longer wipe the windows and risk scratching them. Spirit in the cleaning water can prevent icing, but such anti-freeze agents are not particularly environmentally friendly. Another point: when it's cold outside, rooms cool down considerably. That's another reason why you should schedule window cleaning for warmer days.
Window cleaning in winter: What you need to look out for
Clean the windows with lukewarm water - windows are particularly dirty in winter, which is why you should change the water more often. This is because the dirty water can act like sandpaper on the windows when you peel them off. Also dry the frames, especially wooden frames, well after cleaning to prevent ice from forming.
