Tip 1: The right preparation for crease-free shirts
The shirt should ideally still be slightly damp. Pour tap water into the tank of the steam iron or mix it with distilled water in a ratio of 1:1. This mixture is advisable if you live in a region with hard water - but beware: pure, distilled water can permanently damage the soleplate.
Tip 2: Get to the collar
For dark shirts, place a cloth between the fabric and the iron to prevent shiny spots. Start by ironing the cuffs and collar - place the inside of the shirt on the ironing board and work from the outside to the middle.
Tip 3: Shoulder area & button placket
The shoulder area will be nice and smooth if you place the inside of the shirt over the tip of the ironing board. Then tackle the button placket. Be careful when ironing between the buttons, as they can easily be deformed by the heat.
Tip 4: Do not roll up the sleeves ...
... but lay them flat and work from the center outwards. For anyone who regularly has to iron shirts and blouses, it is worth buying an extra sleeve board. Finally, iron the front and back smooth. Voilà, your crease-free shirts are ready!
