The perfect bedtime ritual is different in every household, but sleep doctors warn of certain factors that make it difficult or even impossible to fall asleep. Too much excitement in the evening, a light that is too bright, the wrong drinks - all of these can make it difficult to fall asleep peacefully. Smartphones can also have a counterproductive effect here. Researchers have long since discovered this.

But did you know that there are two other potential dangers of always having your cell phone on the bedside table or even in bed? And that smartphones can even be life-threatening?

1. sleep disturbances

The blue light from the screen interrupts the release of the sleep hormone melatonin. This leads to problems falling asleep and restless sleep.

2. fire hazard

If the cell phone is under the comforter, it can quickly overheat. Caution: fire hazard. The battery can start to smoulder and set the blanket on fire.

3. hazardous to health

The World Health Organization warns of potentially carcinogenic radiation emitted by our cell phones. According to a study, this can increase the risk of brain tumors in frequent cell phone users by up to 300 percent.
