How to find a car that meets your needs
The assumption that women only ever pay attention to looks when it comes to cars is long outdated. Of course we (like men, by the way) like beautiful cars that stand out from the crowd in terms of design. We also like to drive fast and prefer a pleasant driving experience. Points that are also high on men's wish lists when it comes to their dream car. However, in addition to design and driving characteristics, there are a few other important factors that should influence the car purchase.
The budget
"No moss, no gain." Of course, financial resources play a decisive role when buying a car. It's not just about the purchase costs for your new car, but also the running costs. In view of rising fuel prices, this is a factor that should not be neglected. An economical car will therefore be easy on your household budget. You should also factor in the annual taxes due, regular inspections, oil changes, repair and maintenance costs and, if necessary, fees for a parking space.
Insurance
The running costs of a car also include the cost of insurance. You cannot avoid motor vehicle liability insurance, as this is compulsory for every car owner in Germany. Whether you also take out partially or fully comprehensive insurance depends on how valuable or as good as new your car is.
It is always worth comparing rates, especially when it comes to car insurance. For example, many providers offer attractive discounts for infrequent drivers, second car users or owners of a new car. There is additional savings potential if you have already taken out insurance with a provider and then also insure your car with them. Gothaer Versicherung, for example, offers discounts if you are already a customer.

Diesel, gasoline or electric?
It wasn't so long ago that you could save a lot on fuel costs when filling up with diesel. This advantage of the diesel car over the petrol car has virtually vanished into thin air. In addition, petrol cars still score with comparatively lower costs for insurance and taxes.
Apart from the rising prices for diesel and petrol, it is increasingly worth considering the more environmentally friendly alternatives: an electric car. The lower energy costs in particular, but also the lower maintenance costs and, last but not least, the state purchase premium for electric cars are arguments in favor of buying an electric car.
However, it must be pointed out that the infrastructure for charging the vehicle is not yet sufficiently developed. Charging is also difficult for drivers who live in apartment buildings if there is no suitable charging station available.
New or used?
The question of whether to opt for a new or used car depends primarily on the budget you have available. New cars have high purchase costs and at the same time a high depreciation in the first year. What's more, in recent years in particular, you can expect enormous waiting times when ordering your dream car.
In return, you will of course receive your car with your desired equipment, a vehicle without previous damage, with the latest technology and with a manufacturer's warranty.
However, if you want to save money on the purchase, a used car is the right choice. A used car is not necessarily an "old rust bucket". For example, it is always worth keeping an eye out for well-equipped one-year-old cars.

Size and equipment
How big the new car needs to be depends on how many people you regularly transport in it. A single person on a business trip will need a different car than a family with three children. This applies not only to the number of seats, but also to the space in the trunk.
While single people or couples can get by with a sporty two-seater or a classic 5-seater, a family of four or five needs at least a large estate car. 7-seaters such as vans or spacious SUVs offer even more space.
When it comes to equipment, the budget again plays an important role. Nevertheless, there are a few basic things that are recommended. You should never skimp on safety with airbags and driver assistance systems. You can also enjoy a high level of driving comfort with an automatic gearbox, which saves you having to constantly change gear. However, if you are a bit more sporty and passionate about driving, we recommend a manual gearbox.
